Medical Coding is a two-semester certificate program designed to prepare students for employment as medical insurance specialists or medical coders in physician’s offices, hospital billing offices, outpatient departments, and insurance companies. Students will develop expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS medical coding and medical billing procedures. This program is an AHIMA approved coding curriculum that prepares students to sit for the AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CSS®) Certification. Students are also eligible to sit for the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification. The program prepares graduates for employment in various healthcare settings including hospitals, physician offices, surgery centers, nursing homes, dental offices, home healthcare agencies, mental health facilities, and insurance companies.
