KC Medical Coding Training utilizes a comprehensive curriculum to meet the needs of this evolving profession. This curriculum program provides an excellent foundation for designing a competency-based, relevant, practical, and user-friendly program that meets the needs of this evolving coding profession. The student will learn principles of medical coding related to the 3 coding guidelines, CPT®, ICD-10-CM Code Set, and HCPCS Level II. Course materials will be in textbook and online format. This course is designed to prepare the student to take the American Academy of Professional Coders CPC certification examination. Course objectives include identifying the purpose of the CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II within Healthcare reimbursement, understanding and applying the official ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, understanding how to assign diagnoses and procedure codes from medical documentation, and providing practical application of coding operative reports and evaluation and management services.
