The Medical Assisting Program focuses on equipping students with essential clinical, administrative, communication, and medical knowledge skills crucial for success in health care roles.

Key Skills Taught:

• Clinical Skills: Asepsis, infection control, patient histories, vital signs, first aid, CPR, patient preparation, examination assistance, specimen collection, diagnostic tests, injections, and medication administration.
• Administrative Skills: Patient scheduling, record-keeping, secretarial tasks, phone etiquette, correspondence, financial management, and physician liaison duties.
• Communication: Emphasis on effective written and oral communication skills for career readiness.
• Medical Knowledge: Education in human biology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and emergency procedures.

Program Features:

• Certification Preparation: Training for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam, boasting a 100% program pass rate.
• Employment Opportunities: Preparation for various health care settings like ambulatory care, health care facilities, public health agencies, schools, medical schools, research institutes, and insurance firms.
• Program Length: Fall semester students can earn a Certificate of Proficiency in 11 months, with an option for an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in two additional semesters.
