Medical Assisting

The Medical Assisting program at Maysville Community & Technical College equips students with essential skills to become integral members of health care teams across diverse settings. Students learn administrative skills like appointment scheduling and medical record management, as well as clinical skills such as assisting in exams and administering medications. Graduates have various career opportunities in doctors' offices, outpatient clinics, and ambulatory health care facilities. The program focuses on anatomy, medical terminology, law, ethics, pharmacology, and clinical and administrative procedures. Graduates can pursue certifications like Medical Assisting Diploma, Medical Office Administrative Assistant Certificate, Medical Office Insurance Billing and Coding Certificate, and Electrocardiograph Technician Certificate. The curriculum emphasizes medical ethics, communication, office procedures, patient care, and lab tests to prepare students for successful careers in the health care industry.
