Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant program at Passaic County Community College focuses on equipping students with a diverse clinical and administrative skill set for success in health care settings. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles like Phlebotomists, Medical Assistants, and Medical Secretaries & Administrative Assistants. Key skills include performing vital signs, administering medications, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and assisting with physical exams in the clinical realm, while billing, coding, office responsibilities, computer skills, and navigating Electronic Health Records form the administrative skill set. Students completing the program have the option to pursue an Associate’s Degree or seek certifications such as CCMA, CMA, RMA, and CPT. The program also offers hands-on experience through clinical placements and readiness for national certification exams.
