The Coding and Reimbursement Specialist Certificate program at Tulsa Community College prepares students to become Certified Coding Specialists. The program focuses on teaching ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines, reimbursement systems, and revenue cycle management. Graduates can take a national examination to become a Certified Coding Associate (CCA) and, after gaining 2-3 years of coding experience, are eligible to sit for the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) examination. The program is approved by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) under the Professional Certificate Approval Program (PCAP). The curriculum includes data management, legal regulations, information systems, reimbursement systems, compliance, and healthcare leadership and management skills.
