The Medical Assisting program equips students with essential skills such as appointment scheduling, insurance account coding, billing, computer operations, assisting in medical procedures, laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, medication administration, and understanding ethical and legal aspects of patient care.

Program Features:

  • 240 hours of clinical externship in a medical office
  • Accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Eligible for American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certification Examination
  • Real-world experience with patients and medical assistants
  • 75% job placement rate in 2021
  • 88% passing rate for the CMA (AAMA) and RMA (AMT) exams in 2020, surpassing the Medical Assisting Education Review Board's threshold for exam passage

Program Length: How Long Is Montgomery Community College's Medical Assisting Associate Program?

The Medical Assisting program at Montgomery Community College offers two program options:

  1. Associate in Applied Science Degree - Accredited Option
  • Required Hours: 68 semester hours

  1. Certificate - Non-Accredited Option
  • Required Hours: 16 semester hours

There is also a Basics Certificate - Non-Accredited Option available, which requires 14 semester hours.
